Many graduates stress over finding the perfect dress for the ceremony, but with whatever frock you choose left hidden under your graduation gown, all the focus is on the hair. Searching for a hairstyle for the big day is no easy feat: voluminous styles and up-dos must be ruled out because they’ll get ruined by the obligatory graduation cap. [Read more...]

One of the many reasons we love Lauren Conrad is that she’s one of those fearless fashion chicks who’s not afraid to rock some totally out-there locks. In her latest hair feat, the former reality TV star brought serious color to the signing for her new book, The Fame Game: we’re talking hot pink dip-dyed tresses.
Lauren tweeted as she was prepping for the event, “Trying to convince @Kristin_Ess to dye my tips fuchsia for tonight’s book signing…My Little (pink) Pony!” We have to hand it to Kristin, co-founder of The Beauty Department, for these bold and bright ponytail tips—this beauty look had Lauren looking like a beaming fuchsia Barbie.
Dip-dyed hair is a fun and flirtatious look that’s perfect for Prom night. You can follow LC’s lead by opting for a muted outfit and letting the hair and eyes do the talking. Along with her colorful ‘do, Lauren rocked a bold cat eye with more subtle eye shadow, blush, and lip gloss. Here’s how to recreate her look: [See the steps!]

Joanna Noëlle Blagden Levesque, or “JoJo”, as most of us know her, took the world by storm in 2004—at the ripe age of 13—with her infectious pop song “Leave (Get Out)”. Now, three albums and two movies later, the 21-year-old singer/actress is adding another job to her already lengthy and impressive resume: spokeswoman for Clearasil. [Read the Q&A...]

No stranger to bold fashions and beauty looks, Rihanna made another daring style statement last night at the Sydney, Australia premiere of her new movie, Battleship. The 24-year-old Barbadian beauty turned heads on the red carpet in a high bun, bold red lips, and larger-than-life hoop earrings. Although RiRi chose to play up her androgynous look with an all-black-everything jumpsuit by Stella McCartney, we think her updo and lusty lip combo would look just as fierce paired with a Prom dress. Here’s how you can replicate Rihanna’s look for the big night:
1. Fake It ‘Til You Make It

DUO eyelash adhesive, $8.

Sephora false eyelashes in “flutter”, $8.
False lashes aren’t just for holidays and playing dress-up, they can be a girl’s best friend when it comes to fancy nights on the town. Play up your eyes at Prom with a natural looking pair of fake eyelashes—just make sure they’re not too gaudy. Before applying, curl your real lashes with an eyelash curler so they’re shaped to the fake ones. Next, apply an eyelash adhesive just above your upper eyelashes and place the eyelash strip gently on the lid—as close to the roots as you can get—starting from the outer edge of your eye and moving toward the nose.
2. Enhance The Eyes

MAC liquid eye liner, $19.
A liquid eye liner is great for covering up the fake lash roots, and it also emphasizes the eyes even more by making them appear fuller. Apply the liner to your eye by keeping the tip of the brush close to the lash line. We recommend using liquid liner instead of regular because it’s longer-lasting—you won’t have to spend all night dodging to the bathroom to reapply!

Laura Mercier sateen eye colour in “baroque”, $22.
Since you’re rocking such a loud color on your lips, scale back with your eye makeup. A shiny bronze shadow will conceal your false lashes and add a touch of shimmer without over-dramatizing your face. Sweep the eye shadow over your entire upper lid as well as the crease of your eye.

L’Oreal voluminous mascara in “carbon black”, $8.
Apply mascara to the fake lashes so they blend in with your real ones.
3. Lusty Lips

NARS semi matte lipstick in heat wave, $24.
Skip a neutral gloss and follow Rihanna’s lead with a daring lip. A fiery, bold shade of red will instantly boost your confidence and brighten up your entire outfit. It also has a voluminous effect—your date will have no choice but to seal your night with a smooch!

Jennifer Lawrence has been rocking the red carpet lately, and she’s sporting a pretty sick look in the Hunger Games movie as well: Yes, we’re talking about the behind-the-head, side swooping dutch braid (which we’re now dubbing “the Katniss braid”). Only Katniss could make fighting in a post-apocalyptic death match look hot, and now you can channel the heroine and replicate her tough girl look. Click through to see our step-by-step guide on how to get Katniss’ ‘do. Let the braiding begin! [See the steps...]

Lily Collins looked like the sultriest Snow White we’ve ever seen at the celebration of NYLON Magazine’s March issue on Monday night at Scarpetta in Beverly Hills, CA. The Snow White star (and rising It-girl) played up her eyes and prominent brows in a big way, keeping the rest of her makeup simple and understated. This smoldering smoky eye is perfect for batting your lashes at your Prom date—here’s how you can emulate Lily’s look for the big night: [Get the look...]
