Mariah McManus may be 20 years old, but she’s been writing and playing music since age 13, when her father (wisely) gave her a set of musical instruments for Christmas. Mariah taught herself how to make music all through her youth, and this past fall, the L.A.-based indie singer-songwriter fulfilled her life-long dream of releasing an album.

Nice to Meet You, her self-released ten track debut, contains lyrics that beautifully capture the struggles of youth and has been featured in The New York Times, which compared McManus’ vocal range to that of Bjork and Taylor Swift. The album was also praised by Billboard, Teen.com, and Buzz Bands LA, and her single ‘Unarmed’ was even featured on an episode of Grey’s Anatomy (she wrote it when she was 13!). [Watch the Video...]

No one mixes dark and flirty as perfectly as former Project Runway contestant-turned-designer Althea Harper. For the past couple seasons we’ve followed her as she’s prepped for Fashion Week and even her own wedding, and now she’s back with her latest collection, and—just as we’d hoped—it has the perfect amount of feminine flair and rebelliousness. Check out a video showing looks from Althea’s fall/winter 2012 collection!

We won’t deny our love of a good ol’ Justin Bieber pop song because—let’s be honest, they’re catchy as heck and make us pretty happy. But we also won’t deny our love of a good ol’ Justin Bieber impersonation, and on this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Fallon just kills it.

Among other impressions that made us lose it in the office today:  Kristen Wiig as Taylor Swift and Taran Killum as Scotty McCreery. Check it out! [Read more...]

By now we imagine your calendar’s probably overflowing with holiday parties, dinners, reunions, travel—we get it. This time of year we’re seeing so many people in such a short chunk of time that the standard “What am I going to wear to x, y, and z” becomes more of an actual concern than a passive pondering.

So now is the perfect time for scouring style blogs to get inspiration on holiday looks, and it’s especially nice that StyleHaul’s created a video just for that. Olsenboye partnered with three YouTube style gurus (arose186sparkliebarbiexo, and glassslipperbeauty) to personally style three lucky fans, each with her own ideas on what looks good (and what doesn’t), in a holiday outfit from the Olsenboye collection. Check out the video to see the looks they chose and for some fun holiday party style tips from your favorite gurus.

Oddly enough, that’s the topic of NARS’ latest video campaign for their Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner. The futuristic take on applying makeup has us wondering: Is this the future of makeup? Are makeup artists soon to be replaced by the very robot hands seen in this NARS video? This innovative new campaign was directed by longtime NARS contributor Fabien Baron and features robot hands applying makeup on model Emily Baker, perhaps to represent the precision and finesse of their new long-lasting eyeliner. Check out the vid for yourself below.

How do you feel about the new robot-chic idea?

According to most, country music has a bad rap. The twangy, heartache-y tunes just don’t appeal to everyone, or so it seems. But with Taylor Swift’s domination on both pop and country charts, it’s made us think twice. Just last night at Macy’s 4th of July celebration in New York, famed country singer Brad Paisley was one of two performing acts. He headlined the event with none-other-than Beyonce.
